2017

Before connecting with the National Geographic / Lindblad team that would take us to Svalbard and the Arctic we arrived in Oslo. We spent the first day on our own just wandering the streets of central Oslo between the Royal Palace and the harbour.  On the second day we joined our group and took in some of the sights in Oslo and area including Oslo's Vigeland Park, an 80 acre park devoted to over 200 sculptures in granite, bronze and iron by Gustav Vigeland. We were also lucky enough to visit the Fram museum where the actual original Fram is preserved. The Fram is the ship that was used in expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic by the Norwegian explorers Nanse, Sverdrup, Wisting and Amundsen between 1893 and 1912. We were able to tour the whole ship. See also the Svalbard tab above.
